HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Darrah Wilcox, Tiersa Davis)-- Residents in one Huntington neighborhood said they are living on edge.

"It's hard when you can't walk out your front door without fear of something happening," said one resident, who did not want to be identified.

Many of the neighbors Eyewitness News talked to along Highlawn Avenue didn't even feel comfortable being identified, which shows just how anxious they are about recent activity on the street.

"It used to be a wonderful street. I can't even let me granddaughter come out and play now," another neighbor said.

Thursday morning, the Cabell County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team and the Huntington Violent Crimes Task Force raided a home here on Highlawn Avenue, which lead to the arrest of Anthony Cooper, 39.

Officers said they found $20,000 worth of heroin that was packaged for sales.

One neighbor, who's lived on the street for 20 years, said she was sad to see the deterioration of what she says used to be an ideal place to raise a family.

"I know that neighborhoods go through transitions and whatnot, but we have just seen some of the older folks pass away and then the properties go to rental units, and it's just been a sad situation," she said.

Last year, a shooting happened across the street, and other neighbors have noticed a spike in property crimes, so seeing police take action, is a prayer answered.

"It's lovely to see that they're actually addressing the problem," said the longtime resident.

They hope it's a positive sign of things to come.

"I can just hope," said the other neighbor.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Tiersa Davis)-- A Huntington man is facing drug charges after law enforcement said they found thousands of dollars of heroin inside his home.

Anthony Cooper, 39, of Huntington was charged with possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.

The Cabell County Sheriff's Department and the Huntington Violent Crimes Task Force searched a home Thursday morning and found $20,000 worth of heroin and $1,000 in cash.

Cooper was taken to the Western Regional Jail.
