SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) -- Kanawha County deputies continue to investigate the cause of an early morning accident on Sissonville Drive.

Deputies believe a semi driven by Jeffrey Perry, 46, of Alma, Mich., was traveling north on Route 21 about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday just outside the Charleston city limits and was slowing to make a right hand turn when a sport utility vehicle struck the trailer in the rear end, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The SUV was driven by David L. Keen, 78, of Charleston.

The large truck and trailer owned by Larsen Trucking of Greenville, Mich., sustained minor damage while the Chevrolet Equinox was totaled. Keen was transported by the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority to Charleston Area Medical Center General Division. A hospital spokesman said he was treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued as of yet.

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (Katelyn Sykes) -- One person was taken to the hospital after the sport utility vehicle the person was driving rear-ended a semi.

It happened about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Sissonville Drive in Sissonville.

Emergency officials said the driver hit the back of the semi and was partially stuck underneath it. The driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Sissonville Drive was closed for about an hour while crews cleaned up the scene.
