HURRICANE, W.Va. (Chris Williams) -- Mandy Curry said it was awesome being recognized nationally for a cause that is so close to their hearts.

"The audience got to vote over the conference as to which presentation they liked the best, and we ended up being the winner for that,” said Co-Founder of Healthy Kids Inc. Mandy Curry.

They Curry's were picked to go to DC, and along with 2 other people, they came up with an idea to help end childhood obesity. Their idea was a student garden where children would plant healthy and wholesome food to later use in their daily diets.

Their idea was picked as the top one.....Now the group will make a website to help teachers and students get their gardens up and running.

"We found that with student gardens, kids are more likely to consume fruits and vegetables. They're science scores improve as a result of it. It helps with math and reading. It really kind of covers the whole gamete of it,” added Curry.

It's not the first time the Currys have created a website. Their company, Healthy Kids Inc, has its own site. It helps parents prepare healthy meals for their kids. That's what helped them get national attention in the first place.

"We show them what to cook, how to cook, and then we show how to get their kids to eat it. We do everything via an online portal,” Curry added.

Health is important to the Currys. All of the meals on their site have been approved by a registered dietitian, and the food is cooked in their kitchen.
Now they are hoping with their recent win, they will help inspire others to lead healthier lives.

"We tried to make it as easy of a process for the normal working parents as possible," said Co-Founder of Healthy Kids Inc. Kirk Curry.
