CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Katelyn Sykes) -- It was a long day for Noah Robinson.

Robinson was heading home after working the night shift at the Dupont Belle Plant, and he was driving one of the first vehicles involved in an 11-vehicle wreck on Interstate 77 North near the Interstate 64 split in Charleston that injured three people. Despite his situation, he used his training to help others involved in the mess on the interstate.

"I came around this turn and this black Saturn right here was turned sideways across the lanes," he said. "I lost control in the fast lane and ended up hitting him in the rear. Then the CSX truck came around the turn right after I got out and was trying to wave people away from it and he hit my car in the rear-end and shoved it all the way across the interstate to that side."

The damage to his car is extensive. Robinson said the whole driver's side of his car is torn up and the hood is smashed up almost to the windshield.

But instead of worrying about his car, Robinson was focused on alerting other drivers about this first wreck.

"When I ran over to try to wave people over, another guy was helping me and that truck lost control, almost hit the guy and he jumped over the wall right there and was hanging on," he said. "All three of us guys ran down there and pulled him back over the wall."

After saving that man, Robinson said they were trying to slow traffic down again before another truck lost control and stopped, causing four other cars to pile up behind it. Authorities are saying weather was a factor in the crashes.

At the Dupont Belle Plant, Robinson is also part of the fire squad and EMS team so he and a co-worker also involved in the wreck, put their skills to work.

"We just immediately just started going around to cars and checking people out and making sure they were OK," he said.

Charleston police said three people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and are expected to be OK.

Eight of the cars involved had to be towed from the scene. Robinson's car was one of them, but he is just glad no one was seriously injured and he was able to help those in need.
