CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) – FestivALL Charleston 2014 announced its lineup, with what organizers called a diverse schedule that includes past favorites and new events.

FestivALL is slated for June 20-29 in Charleston.

“To celebrate our 10th year, we are adding some new events, such as FestivALT, a concert that features alternative rock and country rock bands, as well as continuing popular FestivALL anchors such as Wine & All That Jazz, Blues, Brews & BBQ, Chili Cook-Off, Taste-of-ALL and the popular art fairs,” said Larry Groce, executive director of the festival, in a news release.

Organizers said new events this year include:

* FestivALT, an alternative rock and country concert scheduled for Saturday, June 21, at Appalachian Power Park and featuring the headliners Drive-By Truckers with other bands to be announced.

* West Virginia Writer’s Roundtable scheduled for Sunday, June 22, with the special guest Scott McClanhan, author of “Hill William” and “Crappalachia.” The time and venue will be announced at a later date.

* Pittsburgh’s Attack Theatre will present “Some Assembly Required,” a theater performance created around public art. Performance dates will be June 21-22.

* West Virginia Music Hall of Fame “WV Squares” a game with Peter Marshall, a West Virginia native and inductee into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. Marshall is known for his longtime role of being the host of “Hollywood Squares.”

* Art-for-ALL, a juried art show for children in kindergarten through sixth grades in six area counties that will be displayed at the Clay Center during the festival.

* Appalachian Festival of Young Voices, organized by Selina Midkiff of the Appalachian Children’s Chorus and featuring youth choruses from across the country. The concert is slated for Monday, June 30. FestivALL will extend for one day to include this event.

* The St. George Orthodox Cathedral Religious Icon Festival, featuring beautifully rendered artwork from around the world.
