CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) – Sunday into Monday is the next possible severe weather scenario that forecasters are monitoring.

Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Jim Barach said Sunday will see a low pressure system move to the south of the region. The storm will have abundant moisture and will mix in with some cold air which will make for rain and snow showers. Barach said the showers will last into Monday and could bring some heavy snow to the region. He said the only problem right now is determining where the rain/snow line will be. At this time, it looks like the best chance for seeing any heavy snow will be farther to the north. Areas to the south will see more of a rain and snow mixture.

Sunday's high temperature will drop to 47 degrees.

Meanwhile, St. Patrick's Day Monday will start out with rain and snow showers as the low pressure system slowly makes its way through the region. Barach said there could be some areas of heavy snow mainly to the north with the potential for heavy rainfall to the south.

A weak cold front will move through overnight which will make for cloudy skies along with some scattered rain showers late. Rainfall amounts should be a tenth of an inch or late with the overnight low temperature dropping to 42 degrees.

Saturday will start out with early rain showers that will taper off by daybreak. Skies will become partly cloudy with the high temperature making its way up to 61 degrees. It will also be breezy at times in the afternoon.
