CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Stefano DiPietrantonio) – Reaction about the Saints setting up camp in West Virginia was mostly positive.

Most people were stunned when they heard the news.

We got a lot of, 'Are you kidding me?' and 'Really?,' but. most agree, it is great for the Mountain State.

"I think it'll be good for the state!" Doug and Dan Hunt said, and they should know. They saw first-hand the impact it made on their city when the Washington Redskins moved their training camp to Richmond, Va.

"Good or bad for West Virginia?,” we asked Dan Hunt.

“Good for West Virginia,” he said. “I'm not saying they need a pro sports team, but it couldn't hurt!"

That and having marquee players to draw fans in, from all over.

"I would think Drew Breeze, for me,” Doug Hunt said. “I would love to watch him play!"

"Drew Brees, that's enough to go see anybody,” his son Dan said. “He's as good a player we have in this league, and I don't know if you'll ever see a quarterback that special again, really."

"We've got a lot of Steelers, Bengals and Browns fans here, the Saints come swinging on in, do you think we'll have a lot of conversions to Saints fans?,” we asked.

“I don't know about conversions,” he said. “But you're gonna get a lot of interest!"

"It's definitely good for New Orleans,” Dan Hunt said. “They can expand their fan base further north."

"I don't know how it could be bad," Andy Richardson said. He said it might be tough to attract new fans, when teams closer have fan bases entrenched.

"You know, even in the Wheeling area, which we're from, it's Steeler country, and a little bit of Browns country across the river there.” Richardson said.

“Will there be converts?,” we asked.

“Not even close,” he replied. “No."

Especially when you're up against teams that have fans in every corner of the world.

"Two blocks from our hotel was a Steeler bar, in downtown Rome.” Richardson said. “So they have a tremendous following."

"Saints coming to the Greenbrier,” we asked Michael Persinger.

“I think it's a good thing," he said. "But the Steelers will always rule."

We didn't meet a single Saints fan, but we are sure there must have some here in Charleston. Everyone agreed it will be a terrific national spotlight to have shining on West Virginia. And with the added cache of being at the Greenbrier, people said it can only be another reason for fans, old and maybe some new ones, to come and check them out.
