CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Heath Harrison) – Police said a man wanted on kidnapping, sexual assault charges was arrested on Thursday.

Michael Dale Salisbury, 29, of Charleston was wanted following an incident on March 6 in which a woman said she awoke in her residence to find at male, wearing a ski mask, sitting on her bed and fondling her.

The victim said the male told her that if she wanted to live, she would do what he said and ordered her to perform sex acts on him. The victim said the man then threatened to kill her and her children.

The male removed the ski mask, but the victim said she did not recognize him. The male then proceeded to sexually assault the victim, police said.

Police said the victim attempted to run from her residence, but the male chased her down, pushing her down onto the roadway causing injuries. The victim said the man then took her back to her residence, and then to her vehicle, where he made her go to an ATM and withdraw money. The male used his phone to make several calls, and the victim said she heard him identify himself as “Mike.”

After speaking with family and friend about the incident, the victim was given the name of Salisbury as a suspect. Police said the victim looked at photos of Salisbury on Facebook and identified him as the man who she said kidnapped and sexually assaulted her.

Salisbury was arrested for kidnapping and 2nd degree sexual assault. A warrant was obtained Thursday following an investigation, and a BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued for him while detectives searched to make an arrest.

According to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, he was located by officers with the Dunbar Police Department, who detained him until detectives with the sheriff’s office arrived and arrested him.
