ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (Elizabeth Noreika) -- A St. Albans man is going to prison after biting a state trooper.

Judge Duke Bloom sentenced Roy McKean to seven to 33 years in prison Wednesday.

McKean was convicted of battery and malicious wounding after he bit a trooper in November, following a chase on his motorcycle.

McKean was also sentenced for fleeing, operating a meth lab, obstruction and possessing meth making materials. McKean will not be eligible for parole for seven years. He indicates he wants to appeal his conviction

"Even after being pepper sprayed in the face, that didn't stop him and the trooper had to ask a citizen to help him because he was so tired from the struggle,” assistant prosecuting attorney Fred Giggenbach said. “Mr. McKean is violent and dangerous individual. He has a long criminal history. A long criminal history of battery on police officers."

McKean will not be eligible for parole for seven years. He indicates he wants to appeal his conviction.
