Water Crisis Forces One Business To Close

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Chris Williams) -- The owner of the restaurant sent out a tweet this morning saying "Sadly we have been unable to recover our loses during the water crisis and unexpected weather conditions. Thursday we will close the doors."

"I think it's tragic, I really do. It's not even nothing they control. The people in there are so nice, you can just go in there, sit down, and feel comfortable," said a regular at the restaurant Joe Williams.

Thelma Fay’s is popular with the lunch crowd from CAMC right across the street.

"Them being shut down is horrible. That’s a good place to eat. They have good food, good healthy food,” said Charleston resident Kyle Bonaparte.

The owners of Thelma Fay’s didn't want to talk to us because they said it was just too emotional. They just bought the restaurant a few months ago.

"To experience something like that that's totally out of their control can definitely be detrimental, and it's unfortunate. A lot of people walk over there to get there sandwich for lunch,” said Director of East End Main St. Rick Cavender.

So far Thelma Fay's is the only business to close on the east in because of the water
crisis and weather, but people in Charleston say one business closing, is one too many.

"The people that caused this problem should be responsible for that everywhere. Nobody should have to shut down for something they didn't do,” Williams added.
