OLIVE HILL, Ky (Dave Benton) -- Wet or dry? That is the question facing voters Tuesday in the town of Olive Hill, Kentucky, as they vote for or against a liquor law.

Signs with "No" or "Yes" dotted the Eastern Kentucky town over the past several weeks.

"I voted no because I didn't really think it would help Olive Hill that much," resident Marcella Lambert said. "I thought it would hurt them. There's been such a drug problem I figured people would go ahead and buy the beer instead of buying food for their kids."

Mike Bailey disagrees and said he sees revenue from alcohol sales helping the town.

"If we get $30,000 to patch potholes and the city needs it I think it's great. If you want to drink, you can. If you don't, you don't.Just like going to church, some people go to church and some don't."

Just down the road in Grayson, the alcohol law went into effect five months ago and so far city leaders say it's a drinking law that has gone down smoothly.

Mayor George Steele said It's been smooth "because we have really good business people who are doing this thing right. We haven't had any issues or violation of the code."

If the law passes Tuesday night, it will be like the law in Grayson. Businesses could sell packaged liquor and restaurants that seat at least 100 customers with 70 percent of sales coming from food, could sell alcohol by the drink.
