BALTIMORE, Md. (Bethany Simmons) - A day after a nationwide Amber Alert was issued for a Maryland girl that police believe was abducted by her father, Baltimore County Police have obtained an arrest warrant for him in connection with the death investigation of her mother.

WBFF-TV in Baltimore, a sister-station of Eyewitness News, reported that Timothy Howard Virts is wanted in connection with the death of Bobbie Jo Cortez.

On Thursday morning, police discovered the body of Cortez at her home in the 3100 block of Ardee Way in Dundalk. Police said Cortez was cut multiple times in the upper body. Her body was sent to the state medical examiner for autopsy results.

Officers believe that Timothy, Caitlyn’s father, took off with her in a 1999 Dodge Durango with Maryland license plate #5AJ4458.

Meanwhile, West Virginia State Police believe Virts may be headed to the Mountain State because of known ties he has to McDowell and Preston counties.

Virts is 6 feet 3 inches tall and 280 pounds. They are reportedly in a 1999 black Dodge Durango with Maryland tags: 5AJ4458. Caitlyn is 5 feet tall and 80 pounds. Police said Caitlyn may have had on glasses.

If you have any information, see Caitlyn or Timothy, call 911.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Kallie Cart) - State Police in West Virginia are asking you to be on the lookout for a little girl from Maryland. WV State Police say police in Maryland have information that Timothy Virts has ties to McDowell County in southern West Virginia, as well as Preston County in northern West Virginia.

Police found the little girl's mother dead in the family home around 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

The Dodge Durango the two are believed to be traveling in was stolen from the missing girl’s stepfather.
