ELEANOT, W.Va. (Sean Delancey) -- Parents in Eleanor are upset, to say the least, after George Washington Middle School ran out of water on Wednesday, leaving kids with no option but to drink from water fountains.

Parents were outraged.

"If I don't want my son drinking the water at home, what makes them think it'sOK for the kids to drink the water at school?” Tiffany Hedrick of Eleanor said.

Parents were upset because the school in Eleanor is no longer giving bottled water to students, instead they are asking students to bring their own bottled water or to drink from the tap, an option which some parents still don't feel is safe.

"While some of our students are able to bring water from home, we have a lot of students who don't really have that option, and it's not fair for them to be subjected to the potentially hazardous water," Michelle Robinson of Eleanor said.

County school officials say each school in the county was allotted a certain amount of bottled water, through the state, and George Washington has already depleted its share. The other schools likely won't be far behind. Right now, the county doesn't have any plans of replenishing the bottled supply.

For George Washington, some concerned parents have donated several cases of bottled water to help students who cannot bring their own from home, but Robinson is concerned that the supply just isn't going to be enough.

"I think there were 60 or 70 cases donated the other day, so that's not going to last," she said.

Both Hedrick and Robinson said there isn't enough known about the safety of the water for schools to stop playing it safe.

No matter what the school does, Hedrick said her son won't be drinking the water at school.
