CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia senators are making a plea for legislation to allot funds to repair roads and create jobs.

Two senators stood Wednesday to bring up two issues that have not yet been addressed on the Senate floor.

Sen. Bill Cole, R-Mercer, said numerous bills addressing job creation have yet to advance from committees. He asks fellow senators to get those bills onto the floor agenda so they can be discussed as a group.

Sen. Robert Plymale, D-Wayne, urged other senators to push forward bills addressing the state's crumbling roads during this spring's paving cycle. He said the roads are already in worse shape than he has seen in years.

For bills to be considered during the 2014 regular session, they must be moved from committees and onto the floor by Monday.
