ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) -- Metro 911 said a hillside has collapsed on a building in St. Albans, and a gas leak has occurred.
No injuries were reported when the hillside came down about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday on a building at 503 MacCorkle Ave. S.W., an emergency dispatcher said. The building, which houses several businesses, is near the intersection of Route 35 and Route 60, a dispatcher said.
Initial reports said that several vehicles also were affected when the hillside came down, but the dispatcher said that had not been confirmed. Everyone who had been in the building had been accounted for, the dispatcher said.
Mountaineer Gas officials had been notified because a gas line apparently ruptured when the hillside came down.
Kanawha County sheriff's deputies and the St. Albans Police Department responded.
