NITRO, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) -- Nitro police said the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 near the Nitro exit off the Interstate Bridge have reopened following two accidents.

The wrecks occurred about 8:30 a.m. within about 100 yards of each other, Kanawha Metro 911 said.

Putnam 911 said two people were transported to the hospital.

NITRO, W.Va. -- Interstate 64 eastbound near the Nitro exit on the Interstate Bridge is shut down for a period while emergency crews clean up two accidents, Kanawha Metro 911 said.

Both accidents happened about 8:30 a.m. within about 100 yards of each other, an emergency dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said the first wreck involved four vehicles near the Nitro exit, and one person was complaining of neck pain. It was unclear if anyone was transported to the hospital. The second accident involved three vehicles and was on the bridge. No injuries were reported in that accident, the dispatcher said.

A Putnam 911 dispatcher said it was told that two people were being transported following the accidents. Nitro police and fire departments responded to the accidents.
