Boil Water Advisories Issued For Charleston, South Charleston Customers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Heath Harrison) -- West Virginia American Water issued a number of boil water advisories Saturday for customer in Charleston and South Charleston.

A boil water advisory has been issued for about 1000 customers in the Rockcrest Drive and Chestnut Street Areas of South Charleston. The affected area includes Rockcrest Drive, Princess Drive, Village Drive, Ridgewood Road, Lincoln Drive from Pike Street to Upton Avenue, Upton Avenue, Bridgeview Drive, Cobb Street, Hollyberry Lane, Greenland Circle, Ivywood Lane, Peachtree Lane, Wilson Avenue, Pike Street, Ridge Drive, Dominion Way, Knob Way, Shady Way, East Village Drive, Chestnut Street from Spring Hill Avenue to Hudson Valley Road, Hickory Street, Garnas Lane, Little Creek Park, Christa Circle, Ronald Drive, Fairview Acres, Airport Road, Oak Tree Lane, Myrtle Tree and Pleasant Valley Road.

The advisory was issued due to a series of main breaks, which caused a water storage tank to drain.

A boil water advisory has also been issued for a second area in South Charleston, including Richmond Elementary and the following streets: Spring Hill Avenue, Wilson Street, Country Club Blvd, Meadow Drive, Marlanka Lane, Normar Road, Blue Sky Drive, Parkview Drive, Messenger Lane and Chittum Lane. The advisory was issued after multiple main breaks.

The company has also issued a boil water advisory for about 75 customers on Mill Creek Road from Rt. 114 to Windsor Drive as well as Windsor Drive. This advisory follows a series of main breaks which caused a water storage tank to drain.

In addition, a boil water advisory has been issued for the Upper Edgewood area of Charleston for about 200 customers, including Edgewood Country Club. Areas affect include Gilbert Road, Viewmont Drive, Summit Lane, White Oak Drive, Woods Road, Stonewall Drive, Edgewood Drive from Cato Golf Course to Woodsview Heights Road, Woodsview Heights Road and Baker Lane. The advisory was issued after multiple main breaks.

Advisories are in place for further notice




CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Mamie Buoy) - If you live on the west side of Charleston, you might be without water.

West Virginia American Water says there is a water outage affecting 700 customers. Crews say a water main broke and repairs began around 7 a.m., but have not said when the problem will be fixed.

Areas affected include Beulah Street, Pacific Street, the back side of Sugar Creek and Garrison Avenue.

West Virginia American Water has also issued a precautionary boil water advisory for 100 customers in South Charleston. Crews there are working on multiple main breaks, which have drained a storage tank.

Customers affected live along Janet Place, Martha Road, Ellen Drive, Susan Drive, Ranch Road, Ashlawn Drive, Woodland Avenue, Thomas Road and Henry Road.

Customers should boil their water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, bathing and brushing teeth.
