Water Distribution Sites Announced For Saturday In Kanawha, Putnam

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Heath Harrison) -- Kanawha County and Charleston have scheduled water distribution locations for Saturday.

According to a news release from the Kanawha County Commission, bulk water will be available at the Crossings Mall in Elkview, the old Big Sandy parking lot in Cross Lanes, Riverside High School and West Virginia State University.

Bottled water will be available at the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department at noon, the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department at noon and in Charleston under the interstate bridge between Quarrier and Lee streets at northbound from Pennsylvania Avenue at 10:00 a.m.

Bottle water will also be available at the Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department at noon, the Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department at 10:00 a.m. and in South Charleston at F Street next to Gestamp at 11:00 a.m.

All sites will be open through the afternoon, until supplies are exhausted.

“We have worked diligently with the State of West Virginia today to access the resources that have been made available by West Virginia American Water Company at the request of Governor Tomblin,” County Manager Jennifer Sayre said.

In Putnam County, water distribution sites operated by FEMA will be set up at the Hurricane Fire Department, the Poca Fire Department, the Winfield Courthouse, the old Buffalo High School and the Route 34 Fire Department. Times were not available. Call ahead details.

Water will also be available at the Elanor Town Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
