ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (Leslie Rubin) -- A suspicious death in Saint Albans has turned into a full blown murder investigation.

Still, there are many unanswered questions when it comes to who killed Nancy Lynch, 66, inside her Jefferson Ave. home.

"She wouldn't have hurt nobody. I've never heard her angry," says lifelong friend Stephanie Ranson. But someone did hurt Nancy Lynch. The mystery of who stabbed the woman to death, police still working to solve, but three days after her body was found they got a break in the case.

"I'd like to know why, why? What was so important?" asks Ranson. For her, it was the news she feared the most, that someone killed Nancy and left here there for possibly several weeks before she was found.

On Sunday, when police did find her body, two of her cars were missing, along with some of her jewelry. It was these missing items that led police to Megan Hughes, 27, and Timothy Shafer, 28.

"I have a job interview later on today," Shafer said during his arraignment on Wednesday, unhappy his bond was set at $50,000 cash.

Shaffer missing that job interview because he's now in jail for being in possession of a stolen car, Nancy's car. Hughes in jail for transferring and receiving stolen property, Nancy's jewelry.

Police say Shafer drove Hughes, in one of Nancy's stolen cars, to Will Jewelry and Loan in South Charleston on January 5. That's where they say Hughes pawned numerous pieces of her jewelry for $500.

Police say they found one of the stolen cars on West 26th Street where Shafer had been living for about a week, and the other one in Sissonville.

"I hope they get what's coming to them, but I don't wish this on my worst enemy," Ranson said.

While no one has been charged with murder, Ranson believes it's only a matter time before all of the pieces of the puzzle are in place.

Eyewitness News did learn that Lynch was accused of selling Xanax last year and was supposed to go to trial in March.

Saint Albans police are asking anyone with additional information on the case to call them.

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (Leslie Rubin) -- St. Albans police said two people have been arrested and face theft-related charges in connection with the death investigation of a woman who was found stabbed to death in her home.

Timothy P. Shafer, 28, of St. Albans and Megan Hughes, 27, of St. Albans are being charged in the case. Shafer is being charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, according to a news release from the St. Albans Police Department. Hughes is charged with transferring and receiving stolen property.

Police said evidence of the thefts surfaced while police were conducting an investigation into the death of Nancy Lynch that began the evening of Jan. 27. During the investigation, police said, it was discovered that jewelry had been stolen from Lynch's home. The jewelry was found in a local pawn shop. Police said Hughes pawned the jewelry.

Lynch owned two automobiles, and they were not at her residence when her body was discovered. The vehicles were reported stolen, and one of the cars, a 2008 Toyota Camry, was recovered early Wednesday morning in Charleston by detectives from the St. Albans Police Department, Kanawha Bureau of Investigation and officers from the Charleston Police Department. Police said Shafer was driving the car. Hughes, who is in a romantic relationship with Shafer, was accompanying him, police said.

The second vehicle, a 1991 Toyota Camry, also has been found in the Sissonville area.

Police said the charges against Hughes are related to the jewelry. Shafer's charges are related to the stolen vehicle.

The investigation into the death continues.

St. Albans police requests that anyone with information contact authorities.
