Two Raleigh Residents Plead Guilty In Pill Fraud Cases

Reported: Jan. 28, 2014 5:26 PM EST

BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) Two Raleigh County residents have entered guilty pleas to obtaining painkillers with forged prescriptions.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said Tuesday that Sherry Lively, 46, of Crab Orchard and Justin Woodie, 22, of Beckley entered the pleas in federal court in Beckley to obtaining oxycodone painkillers by fraud.

Goodwin said Lively and Woodie had prescriptions for oxycodone that were forged by someone who stole a script pad from a Beckley doctor. A local pharmacy filled the prescriptions last July, giving the pair pills that weren't prescribed for them.

Federal agents determined the doctor whose name was on the prescriptions hadn't signed them.

Both Lively and Woodie face up to four years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Their sentencings are set for May 15.
