LOGAN, W.Va. (Katelyn Sykes) -- West Virginia State Police said circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a Logan County man nearly five years ago are suspicious, prompting them to reopen the cold case.

Edward Ray Clayton Bartram, 28, was last seen on May 19, 2009, on Regency Road in Mineral City, Logan County. He was reported missing by his father.

Troopers said Bartram was no stranger to the law and had warrants out for his arrest at the time of his disappearance. Troopers can't go into details about his disappearance but said it's suspicious.

"We usually have heard from Edward on a regular basis," said State Police Sgt. R.L. Frye. "He kept in touch with his family and nobody has heard from him since May of 2009."

The case has been difficult for police and they have exhausted leads.

"It's been frustrating because we've followed numerous leads, and no investigation into those leads has panned out for us," Frye said.

Getting in touch with family has also been difficult for troopers since a lot of phone numbers are disconnected, troopers said. Bartram's father, who he was close with, died last year.

State Police are hoping that by putting his information out there again they will be able to close this cold case.

Bartram is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and has brown hair and hazel eyes.

He has a tattoo of "Tasha" on the left side of his neck, a praying hands tattoo on his left hand and the number 13 on his right arm.

If you have any information on Bartram, you are asked to call State Police in Logan County at 304-792-7200.
