A disturbing discovery inside a Saint Albans home after the body of a 66-year-old woman was found late Sunday night.
Saint Albans police identified her as Nancy Burdette Lynch.
Police are releasing very few details right now about how she may have died, or how long she'd been there, only calling her death "suspicious."
Eyewitness News has learned Lynch has a criminal history that involves prescription drugs.
"I just hope she's at peace now," says Stephanie Ranson, a lifelong friend. She says she's having a hard time coming to terms with her sudden, and unexplained death.
"It's bothering me, I wish I was there for her," she said.
Police say "acquaintances" found Lynch around 9:00 p.m. Sunday, after they went to check on her because they hadn't heard from her.
Police think she could have been dead several days, or even several weeks.
"It was just shocking, honestly, to understand that something like that had happened and that nobody, you know, had found her. That's upsetting to anybody," said a neighbor who did not want to be identified.
According to court documents, Lynch was arrested by Saint Albans police in May 2013 on five counts of delivery of a controlled substance.
In the criminal complaint, police said they were doing surveillance in the area because there had been numerous complaints of suspected drug activity in the parking lot of the BP Par Mar store, which sits right beside Lynch's home.
Police wrote that they had also received information she was selling pills.
Police say that Lynch confessed to selling Xanax to another woman. She was supposed to go on trial in March of this year.
"We all have our problems and she had some problems but she wouldn't hurt a flea," Ranson said. "You need to check on the people that are living alone, and I feel guilty myself."
If you have any information, call Saint Albans police.
