POND GAP, W.Va. - A strange story of a missing man out of Clay County has troopers asking for help.
Joel Finch, 55, was last seen at his home on Rock Camp Road near the Clay, Kanawha County line. He left the home with his dog, and told his fiancée he was headed toward Dunbar to find a job. Now she's fearing the worst.
"I'm worried because I don't know nothing," Michelle Stuart says through tears.
Inside her home near Pond Gap, Stuart can only sit and wait, hoping something leads her to information about her missing fiancée, Joel Finch.
"It's hard for me to talk about it and try to be straight, I'm worried sick about him," she says.
It's a peculiar circumstance, with Dunbar miles away from their home and Finch left on foot. She says they had been arguing the night before about financial struggles, and he left the next morning.
"I love that man with every single drop of blood in me, if something happened to that man, it will kill my soul. I just want him to come home," she says.
It's been bitterly cold, and inches of snow have fallen since Finch was last seen. This leaves her fearful of what could have happened to him.
"They keep trying, to you know, I guess prepare me for the worst. Telling me he could have froze to death somewhere, so I don't know where he's at," she says.
Finch was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt, rocky boots, and carrying a black bag.
