Charleston, W.Va. (Stefano DiPietrantonio) - Deteriorating driving conditions all day Tuesday into Wednesday as nearly a foot of snow fell in some spots, given the strong winds and blowing and drifting.

We got tons of tweets @stefanowchs, folks weary from the first Polar Blast, coupled with the Water Crisis and now, just trying to enjoy some snow, before a second Big Chill settled in.

"Stay home if you can, drive slow if you're out here," said Braxton County Sheriff’s Deputy David Doak Tuesday. And plenty of people took his advice.

A Twitter pic from Jennifer Walker from Chesapeake showed her daughter making snow angels in the 5 inches of snow they got in their backyard in eastern Kanawha County. Even her doll got in on the fun!

Ashley Bradshaw also Tweeted us from Chesapeake showing a beautiful, snowy river scene.

Jody Justice showed us a Twitter pic of her daughter Breanna and their dog Sadie loving the day off from school and playing together in the snow.

Nicole Feldhaus Tweeted us her baby girl Sophia, who was bundled-up and ready to enjoy her first foray into the snow ever!

Eric and Jess had a blast with their three kids at Cato Park in Kanawha County. And one of our favorites came from Jeffrey Wells, who’s careful cleaning of his car, made it look like a giant, smiling insect to us!

"It's a mess," said Doak. It wasn’t all fun and games on a snow day for most folks. Parts of U.S. 19 at the Braxton-Nicholas line were tied-up after a tractor trailer slid on the ice, then slid off the roadway.

"Most of the Interstate is covered, it's very slick, very hazardous,” said Doak. “The northern part of the interstate is also having some problems with that as well."

They got at least half a foot of snow there and there are reports of dozens of accidents. Another tractor trailer driver found out the hard way, what happens when your semi is not carrying a heavy cargo.

"The way the bank is here, I just slid right over into the ditch here,” said Kenneth Robinson. “Whenever you're empty, it's hard to get any traction, ya know?"

Robinson had to wrap heavy chains around his tires to get his truck unstuck. WVDOT officials said simply, if you don’t have to be out on the roads, don’t!
