CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Heath Harrison) -- Environmental activist Erin Brockovich and her chief environmental investigator held an online question and answer session Saturday night regarding the West Virginia water crisis.

Brockovich said her team are gathering information and trying to get to the bottom of the situation.

Many of those who took part in the discussion asked Brockovich about safety concerns of the water. Many have reported still being able to detect a licorice smell to their water even after flushing their pipes.

“I wouldn't drink it for up to three to four weeks,” Brockovich said. “If bathing, bathe with lots of ventilation. The water utility has not cleaned their filters yet.”

Brockovich was asked about the long-term health effects of the chemical.

“There are so many unknown associated medical factors,” Brockovich said. “The medical impacts of this will be studied for the next six months to six years. Everyone is entitled to medical monitoring.”

Brockovich said she and her team are working out their schedules and will be returning to West Virginia.

Information and updates on the investigation are available through Brockovich’s website.

An interview with Brockovich from her town hall in Charleston last week is available in our ”Raw News” section.
