CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Bob Aaron) – Many residents were unsure Wednesday about the safety of the water.

A Facebook page had been set up called "West Virginia Water Is Making Us Sick".

Eyewitness News has also been inundated with people saying they are sick.

If you have any type of symptoms like skin irritation, or nausea and vomiting, you should seek medical attention.

A South Charleston woman who said she never heard the do-not-use warning for water was hospitalized Wednesday night for problems her family blames on water tainted by the chemical spill.

They say the 39-year-old got sick after drinking the water and taking a hot shower.
Hundreds of thousands of people have been inconvenienced by the water crisis, but some have been hospitalized. Melissa Medley has been at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston since Saturday.

Her family said she got sick after drinking water and showering on Thursday, before anyone knew that the water was unsafe. Her mother said her daughter's condition worsened over the next two days, which prompted her to go to the hospital.

Now, almost a week after the leak was detected, she is still having problems breathing.

Citing privacy laws, the hospital was unable to confirm her diagnosis or treatment to Eyewitness News.

Medley is part of a group of people suing both West Virginia American Water Co. and Freedom Industries.
