DUNBAR, W.Va. (Darrah Wilcox) -- Ridge View Barbeque in Institute got the green light to flush out their water early Wednesday.

"Most of the stuff you do here is just like you do at home. You flush your hot water, then you flush your cold. But then we have ice machines and soda machines and a tea brewer and all that that we have to go through a full cycle of those," owner Jim Smith said.

At Subway in Dunbar, the management showed Eyewitness News several filters they had to change out, from soda lines to the bread proofing machine.

Even after being in what's considered a "safe zone", both restaurants remained closed Wednesday, anxiously awaiting a health inspection.

Ridge View BBQ has been updating their customers regularly through their Facebook fan page.

"We've been promising them, okay it looks like it might be tomorrow, okay, the next tomorrow, not that tomorrow, the next tomorrow," joked Smith.

They said they've been doing routine cleaning to try to pass the time until they can reopen, but they are ready to get back to business.

"We're missing our lunch crowd right now! They become a little bit more than customers we're with them so much," Smith said.

National Guard members, Kanawha County Ambulance Authority employees, and sanitarians from Cabell County are working late into the night on inspections, but there are hundreds of facilities on the waiting list. They said the key is to be patient.

A manager at the Dunbar Subway said they did get inspected Wednesday afternoon, and have been cleared to reopen Thursday at 7:00 a.m.
