PRATT, W.Va. (Elizabeth Noreika) -- It took the town of Pratt several decades to finally get clean water from West Virginia American Water, and now, they can't use it yet again.

However, people living here are staying positive and said they got through it once, and they'll do it again.

Water problems are something the town of Pratt has grown pretty familiar with.
Just ask Charlotte Calhoun. She said she has gone as many as 28 days without running water while raising 4 boys.

Calhoun became an advocate for the people, fighting ferociously for years to have West Virginia American Water take over the town's troubled water system.
Problems ranged from low pressure, to dirty and contaminated water that posed a serious health risk

The town simply didn't have the money to fix it

Just a few months ago, West Virginia American Water took over the town's water system, building a 91 hundred foot water main line to the town from the Kanawha Valley water treatment plant along the Elk River in Charleston the old treatment plant was shut down.

With the recent water crisis coming not even a year after the town of Pratt and surrounding areas finally had that safe clean water, Calhoun said it's just a minor set back.

"It has been a little inconvenient but we were just so thrilled to get the water, it really wasn't the water company's fault it happened. They are good people" she said.

Calhoun is trying to put a positive spin on the current situation, not letting a little deja vu damper her spirts.

"Life's too short," she said. "We must be optimistic, because things are going to happen."

Water was being handed out to those doing without at the Pratt Volunteer Fire Department, but the help went both ways Tuesday. As people came to get water, they also brought those hard working volunteers food to thank them for helping out.
