Meigs County Deputies Continue To Investigate Shooting; Stepfather Taken Into Custody For Questioning

LANGSVILLE, Ohio (Jeff Morris) -- Meigs County deputies said they continue to investigate a shooting Wednesday that witnesses said stems from a domestic dispute between a man and his stepfather.

Russell Burns, 69, was taken into custody for questioning after William E. Cleveland, 49, received a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to a news release from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office. The incident was reported about 9:30 a.m. and occurred on Briar Ridge Road outside of Langsville, Ohio.

Cleveland was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, where he was undergoing surgery.

Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood said a small caliber pistol was recovered at the scene with other evidence.

Once the preliminary investigation is completed, the case will be referred to Meigs County Prosecutor Colleen Williams, the release said.




LANGSVILLE, Ohio (Tiersa Davis)-- The Meigs County Sheriff's Department is investigating an incident in which a father apparently shot his son.

Deputies said the shooting happened in the 31000 block of Briar Ridge Road in Langsville about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies said the son was shot and was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington. Deputies said the suspected shooter is in custody, and they are continuing to investigate.

The names of the two men are not being released at this time.




SALEM, Ohio (Tiersa Davis) -- A suspect is in custody and a victim has been flown to the hospital following a shooting in Meigs County.

The Meigs County Sheriff's Department said it got a call about a shooting about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Salem township. Sheriff Keith Wood said the suspected shooter is in custody. The victim was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center.
