HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Dave Benton) -- If you woke up Tuesday morning with running water, consider yourself lucky. Hundreds of people across our region have frozen or burst pipes.

Huntington resident Nancy Underwood only had cold water when she woke up and had to call a plumber to come to the rescue.

"This is the first time in like 40 years my hot water has frozen. It was unbelievable," Underwood said. "Everything was fine at like 1:00 in the morning. I left my cold water running. I didn't think anything about hot water. But I have no hot water."

T.R. Johnson & Sons Plumbing had a busy Tuesday morning responding to about 80 calls from customers in need of pipe repairs after the arctic blast swept through the River City.

Derek Grace is a plumber and said, "If you put heaters in a crawl space or basement just anything to put heat to water lines, it will help keep pipes from freezing. Of course you have to do it safely to not catch anything on fire."
