The Gallia County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous letter about a fatal shooting of a hunter in December.

Larry Bradley, 45, of Bidwell was found dead in his tree stand of a gunshot wound in the Morgan township Dec. 2. The coroner determined he had been shot in the back.

Sheriff Joe Browning said they got the letter last week. It stated that the shooting was accidental and that the writer was remorseful, Browning said. The writer said they wanted the information to be passed on to the victim's family. The letter was preserved for DNA evidence.

Browning said the best thing the writer can do is to come forward and speak with deputies. The family wants to know what happened to Bradley. The Sheriff's Office and the Gallia County Prosecutor's Office will determine what charges could be filed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 740-446-1221.
