Police Release Name Of Suspect They Say Stole Car With Baby Inside

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris, Mamie Buoy) -- Police have released the name of a suspect they said stole a car with a baby inside.

Christopher Linville, 20, of Elkview was taken into custody Monday afternoon after a vehicle was stolen from the One Stop on Washington Street East and Greenbrier Street. The baby and vehicle were found on Wertz Avenue.

Linville was taken into custody later after police had closed off Wertz Avenue to search for the suspect.

Police said the vehicle with the baby inside was taken about 1:30 p.m. Monday from the One Stop at Washington Street East and Greenbrier Street.

Metro 911 and police said the baby was found in a vehicle on Wertz Avenue. Wertz Avenue is being shut down as police search for a suspect.

The baby was inside a car that was stolen about 1:30 p.m. at the One Stop at Washington and Greenbrier streets.




CHARLESTON, W.Va (Jeff Morris, Wes Armstead) -- Police were looking Monday afternoon for a white vehicle with a baby inside that a suspect stole from a Charleston convenience store.

Metro 911 said the incident happened about 1:30 p.m. Monday at the One Stop at Greenbrier and Washington streets. The vehicle was last spotted on Greenbrier Street and then proceeding south on Interstate 77. Police said an Amber Alert is being issued, and it does not appear the incident was domestic related.

The suspect was described as a white male who was wearing a black hoodie with yellow writing.

Police said the vehicle was a white four-door, 2000 Saturn, tan on the front left and black bumpers. It has West Virginia tags with the license number 2A6907.
