LOGAN, W.Va. (Dave Benton) - More information on what caused a massive gas leak forcing the evacuation of the fountain place mall is expected Monday.
Firefighters said they got a call about a gas smell in Bob Evans.
As a precaution, they evacuated about eight businesses, including Walmart, Bob Evans and Game Stop.
They believe the cause was a drip gas truck that likely spilled gas as it passed through the area.
But the Southern Public Gas Company is continuing to investigate.
LOGAN, W.Va. (Dave Benton) - Firefighters had to evacuate the Fountain Place Mall in Logan Saturday due to a large gas leak.
Rescue crews had to clear out all businesses at about 5 p.m., including, Walmart, Bob Evans and Game Stop.
Firefighters first responded to reports of a gas smell in Bob Evans. When they got on scene, more reports of the smell came from surrounding stores like Walmart and Game Stop. As a precaution, they evacuated about eight stores in total.
Crews believe the cause was a drip gas truck that likely spilled gas as it passed through the area.
"I knew the natural gas smell,” Scott Beckett, who smelled the gas leak, said. “I didn't know if it was a tank or something leaking or what not, but I didn't want to light a cigarette.”
Gas levels in the stores were tested and the readings were normal. No one was injured. The stores opened back up after about an hour.

Nobody was reported injured.
No word on what caused the leak.
