Last Minute Shopping

The clock is ticking. With less than 24 left to get any last minute shopping done, shoppers are scrambling to jump on bargains. And retailers are hoping to end the year with a bang! It’s a great time to shop last-minute if you’ve done your homework and know exactly what you’re going out there to do battle for. Many stores are holding marathon hours, so there’s still time. One man showed us how he cut the price of some presents in half.

"I make a big list of the items that he wants, right?,” said Wilbert Sparrow. “Then, I cross-reference them with Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, everywhere else."

Sparrow said his price matching has saved him a bundle this year. And depending on which stores are willing to play, there are deals to be had!

"Waiting a little bit later, but you get better things for a better price," said Sparrow.

He’s waited til the night before Christmas and cross-checking items like an action figure online and then showing it to the manager at Toys R Us, that Amazon.com has the same item, for ten bucks!

"In this store, it's about 20 bucks, so I got it for ten!,” said Sparrow. “So, you cut the price in half!,” we said. “Right!,” he exclaimed. “Good deal!"

"I'm doing one of those shopping as I see it, I know it and get it,” said Tracy Rogers. “No list?,” we asked. “No list,” she said. “Impressive!," we said.

Rogers is taking a more casual approach to her shopping. When stores like Kohl’s, Target and Toys R Us are all operating on marathon hours, she told us, what’s the rush?

"Oh, it's just seems so much to do, busy life, and trying to get those last minute gifts,” said Rogers.

"We were here at 3 in the morning,” said Starlen Davis. “Three in the morning?,” we asked. “Yessir!,” he said. “It wasn't that bad then."

Davis told us he braved the wee hours with him mom on one leg of his shopping, but then was back for a second round at Toys R Us, to buy a pair of monster trucks for his sons, one of whom was celebrating his birthday just before Christmas.

“Gotta spoil ‘em Davis said.

"I like the great sales that they have and there's other stores in the area open 24 hours as well!," said Ambra Price.

Price and her husband Phillip said they knock most of their shopping out on Black Friday, but retailers cry that wave didn’t travel as far as they’d hoped this year.

"I'm just last minute,” said Phillip Price. “I've got two more gifts to go and I'm getting them tonight!

"Oh, I'm not done yet, I've got about 4 more stores to go!," laughed Sparrow. "Do you see yourself shopping at 3 or 4 in the morning?,” we asked. “No sir, I will be asleep," he laughed.

So, if you’re still struggling to find that perfect gift, Kohl’s is open until 6pm Christmas Eve, so is Macy’s. Toys R Us is open until 9pm and K-Mart until 10pm, so you have plenty of options, but what you don’t have is, plenty of time.
