Cross Lanes , Kanawha County , West Virginia

For the past 7 years a faulty furnace has been plaguing the Good family home in Cross Lanes. Jennifer Good lives here with her husband and two children; 11 year old Paige and 14 year old Lucas.

The furnace has been leaking carbon monoxide, and the family hasn't had the funds to fix or replace it.

"We work hard but sometimes we can't make ends meet" says Jennifer.

Fearing for the safety of her children, Jennifer went to the Union Mission for help. Workers there realized the family was in danger and something needed to be done.

Chris Ice with Fire and Ice Heating and Cooling wanted to help a family in need this Christmas. He shared his desire to give, and Union Mission workers immediately thought of the Good family.

Arrangements were made, and Ice and his crew went to the Good home and installed a brand new heating and cooling unit for free.

"It just took my by surprise, I was really really shocked and I started crying. I was beside myself" says Jennifer.

"It's very hard to come up with money right now so that's why I'm here. God gave me the opportunity to do it and that's what I'm going to do" says company owner Chris Ice.

It took all day to install the new unit, but now the Good family no longer has to worry about staying warm this winter. They now have peace of mind, which is the best Christmas gift they say they could ask for.
