For most people, waiting in line is the last place you want to be this time of year, but for Homer Christian, what he's picking up is worth the wait.
"I'm very grateful you know," he said.
Christian is at the Salvation Army warehouse in Huntington to pick up Christmas presents for his two young sons.
"It's really exciting because otherwise my kids wouldn't have nothing," he said.
Each boy was an angel on a Salvation Army tree in the Huntington area.
His family is one of nearly 600 families being helped by the Salvation Army this year. That's a sharp increase from last year.
"75 more families this year was a surprise," Major Matt Riley said. "We thought it would be up, but not this much."
They had to scramble even more when 97 angels didn't get returned, but Friday morning, Santa's little helpers were ready to make the season a little brighter for all these families.
Now Christmas in the Christian household will be full of cheer.
"Both kids has three or four toys apiece, and that's more than they had. So my kids will be happy I'm sure!" he said.
Huntington firefighters also helped distribute toys Friday morning.
The Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign, which helps families throughout the year, continues through Christmas Eve.
