An investigation is underway after 27 I-Pads are stolen from Clay County High School.
The stolen I-Pads total nearly $19,000, according to state police.
We visited Clay County High School on Monday where we found 10th grade students in Mr. Nichols class taking a history test. They weren't using pen and paper though, they were using I-Pads.
"I've learned more stuff off of this than I have in a book, I'd have to say," says Cullen Grose.
"It helps to bring the world to Clay County, so we'll miss those sorely, we're missing them now," explains superintendent Kenneth Tanner.
Troopers say they believe four I-Pads were stolen from a secure locker on December 4. The thieves then allegedly came back a few days later, wiping the locker clean and getting away with $18,900 in I-Pads the school system paid for with grant money.
"Given the economic downturn, particularly in Clay County, those kind of things are difficult for us to come by and used very frequently," explains principal Melinda Isaacs.
Troopers say they are reviewing surveillance video to try and track the culprits, and hope to recover some of the stolen equipment.
"While it is discouraging and hard to face the facts that someone has stolen from the school, we've been fortunate that our staff pulls together immediately," says Isaacs.
With a tap and a scroll on the few I-Pads they have left, the students just hope someone is held responsible.
