Charleston , Kanawha County , West Virginia

The annual Charleston Christmas parade is set for Saturday morning.

The parade is set to kick off at 11 a.m. on Court Street at Washington Street, and then will head south past the Charleston Town Center, east on Virginia Street and north on Capitol Street before disbanding around Egan Street.

The parade will affect downtown traffic as follows:

- Court Street will be closed between Washington and Smith streets and Donnally Street will be closed on both sides of Court Street for staging the parade, starting at 9:45 a.m.

- Because Court Street will be closed for the parade south to Virginia Street, eastbound traffic on Lee Street will be restricted at Clendenin Street and vehicles on Virginia Street will be diverted at Goshorn.

- Starting at 10:15 a.m., Virginia Street between Court and Capitol streets will be closed to traffic, and drivers on the side streets (Laidley, Summers and Capitol streets) will be restricted to the unit blocks and not be able to cross Virginia Street or turn onto it.

- Capitol Street will also be closed with traffic in preparation for the start of the parade, and westbound traffic on its connecting streets (Quarrier and Washington) will be detoured onto Dickinson.

- Lee Way at the Lee Street Triangle will be closed in preparation for Pearl Harbor Day ceremony.

- Drivers traveling east or west through town will want to stay on the interstate highways or use Kanawha Boulevard while drivers heading north or south through downtown will want to avoid Court, Laidley, Summers and Capitol streets between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

- People hoping to park anywhere inside the rectangular parade route will need to be in place before the affected streets start closing in the 10 a.m. hour.

- Also, by 10 a.m., on-street parking will be restricted on Lee Way, on Capitol Street north of Virginia Street, on Christopher Street between Capitol and Eagan streets and an Eagan Street between Christopher and Smith streets.
