Papa John's pizza stores across the region are giving twenty percent of their proceeds today to the Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson's research.

To make the donation, you have to mention Parkinson's Disease or Connie Jones when you order. The woman whose name triggers the charitable act has been dealing with Parkinson's for years, and working to find a cure.

"This is my life now and I'm not doing this just for me," Connie Jones of Charleston said. "I'm doing it for millions of people. We have to find a cure. I participated in the Fox Trot last March and since that time I've raised $9750 for Michael J. Fox Parkinson's research."

In addition to the money, Papa John's is also distributing informational flyers about the state's Parkinson's support network, which provides help, activities and a listening ear for people with the disease, caregivers and family members.

"We've got our notices on 10,000...11,000 pizza boxes that tells people we have a support group," George Manahan of Charleston said. "We have a Facebook page. We're reaching out to people. A year ago, there was no support group in Charleston. We now have 75 people in a support group."

Papa John's stores across the state are very active in fundraising campaigns. The chain's area supervisor said its about giving back.

"If I can find a couple of people who are having this condition, if they can come forward and get help with the support groups it will be well worth it," Praveen Srinivasan, Papa John's area aupervisor, said.
