A male suspect who had barricaded himself inside a Charleston housing complex has been taken into custody.
Miguel Quinones Jr. had been inside Hillcrest Apartments on Hillcrest Drive on Tuesday afternoon, and deputies had the facility surrounded.
Eyewitness News has learned that Quinones had a parole violation on a murder charge, though it's not clear where that charge was from. Deputies said that the U.S. Marshals Task Force received a tip that he had been staying at the apartments in Charleston.
When officers with the task force arrived on scene, they said, a woman answered the door telling them that the man had been staying there, but was not currently at the apartment.
Officers then discovered the suspect hiding in the attic of the apartment. The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene and found Quinones in the attic of an apartment unit.
Investigators discovered guns inside the residence and said that Quinones could face additional charges for those. The woman could also possibly face charges.
Quinones had previously been mentioned in a search warrant from Kanawha County deputies, in connection with the Kareem Hunter murder investigation. Hunter had been reported missing in late September. His remains were found last month in Raleigh County. Deputies believe Hunter was murdered at a Marmet apartment. The search warrant lists Quinones as one of the individuals who picked up the trailer that was used to move furniture from the apartment, which was then stored in a Dunbar mini-storage locker.
Eyewitness News has a crew on the scene and will provide more information as it becomes available.
