Charleston , Kanawha County , West Virginia

During an emotional circuit court proceeding, a Kanawha County man was sentenced Monday for a violent home invasion that severely injured a Pinch woman.

Casey Givens was sentenced to 74 years for the robbery and 2 to 10 years for malicious wounding in connection with the February attack of Ramona Jones and another home invasion in which Frank Mace was attacked at his residence.

Family members of the victim specifically asked for the 74-year robbery sentence because that is how old Jones was when she was attacked. Today, Jones is on a feeding tube and cannot walk or speak.

“He sentenced my wife to a life of misery from what he did to her,” said Buddy Jones, the husband of the victim.

Two of Ramona Jones’ children also spoke in court. Her daughter said to Givens, “No matter what you get, it won’t be enough.” Jones’ son asked him, “How hard to you think you need to hit a 74-year-old?”

Meanwhile, Givens apologized for his role in the crime.

“I wish I could be suffering in the ways Mrs. Jones is suffering,” Givens said.

The other man involved in the incident, Aaron Chapman, was sentenced to 90 years in prison.
