Millions of people across the country are taking advantage of Black Friday sales, Friday.
Many stores opened their doors on Thanksgiving day but some still held off until Friday.
About 1200 people waited in line for Cabela's in Charleston to open. Some shoppers waited in tents while others brought along heaters to keep warm. Some people got in line as early as 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
"Because my husband is crazy," Charlotte Chafin said with a chuckle. "I guess it's a thrill."
Chafin said it was her husband's idea to stand in line at Cabela's so early. They were the third and fourth customers in line and said there was nothing in particular they were looking to buy.
"They like to try to win the free gifts like the rest of us," she said.
As the doors opened at 5 a.m. shoppers flooded the store looking for the great Black Friday bargain. While some are there to browse, others go in with a plan.
"You look at the ad and you know exactly what you're looking for and you go get it," said John Taylor, shopper.
Terry Richardson drove from Teays Valley to pick up gifts for his family and himself.
"A couple jackets, some long underwear. I got some bullets for me. It was really busy and I got here right at 5:15 but I understand some people got here at like 3:00 in the morning trying to get their deals and they got a $15 discount card or something and I'm like no thanks."
A busy day for retailers and smooth sailing for Cabela's as thousands go out for the biggest shopping day of the year.
