"Rest Assured" tells the story of Philip Morlock. He's a workaholic corporate executive who has become obsessed with success at the expense of everything else he holds dear.
"He's exchanged everything except for the almighty dollar, so to speak," Danny Webb, the play's director said. "And there is some interesting characters that come into his life and an unusual event that makes him begin to see himself for what he really is."
For the 44th year, the Oakridge Bible Church is presenting a free production designed to entertain and just maybe deliver a positive holiday message.
"I know people like myself who will be coming who have suffered something," Webb said. "And we hope for a couple of hours they can set those things aside and just enjoy themselves and receive the message. First of all, of good, wholesome fun that's just enjoyable. But also had a good moral message too, without beating people over the head."
The church presents its annual Christmas play as a gift to the community. No admission is ever charged. For the actors, it's a months-long commitment to stage a story about the season.
"I think it should cause people to think about what's really important in life," Matthew Jacob (Philip Morlock) said. "Family, friends, loved ones, and of course what's always woven into it is the true meaning of Christmas."
"You should pay attention to your family and watch your surroundings," Courtney Messer (Jessica Morlock) said. "And not pay attention and not get distracted during...by like work, or your car or your money. Pay attention to God and what he's trying to tell you through your family."
