Residents in Wayne County voted on Saturday to continue a school excess levy.
With all precincts counted, 2,884 votes were for the levy and 738 were against it.
Turnout was three times higher than a vote five years ago, Bill Rosenberger, with Wayne County Schools, said.
Voters in Wayne County went to the polls to decide on continuing a school excess levy Saturday.
As returns came in, the levy appeared to be approved.
With 20 of 36 precincts counted, 1475 votes were for the levy and 450 were against it.
Voters in Wayne County on Saturday will head to the polls to vote on a school excess levy.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The superintendent said the levy is a continuation of what taxpayers have passed over the past 50 years.
It will provide text books, materials and benefits to part-time teachers.
If the levy fails, it will hurt the chance of having a school bond levy on the ballot in May. Money raised from that levy would provide a new school for the Ceredo Kenova community.
