A Cross Lanes man faces a drug charge after a deputy said he made a traffic stop in Sissonville and found marijuana in his vehicle.

William Joshua Meadows, 24, was charged Tuesday with possession with intent after his vehicle was pulled over, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

A Kanawha County sheriff’s deputy said he was patrolling the area when he pulled over the vehicle, which had a tinted license plate and aftermarket LED lights above the plate that did not appear to be functioning properly.

The driver attempted to exit the vehicle, and when the door opened, the deputy said he could smell marijuana. The officer asked if there were any drugs in the vehicle, and the driver said there was a smoking pipe in his pocket, the complaint said. An airtight container with two bags of marijuana and a set of digital scales was discovered in the vehicle, the complaint said.

Meadows told the deputy had more marijuana in his apartment at 5302 Carleton Court in Cross Lanes, and he gave permission for the officer to search the residence, the complaint said. Another set of scales, two boxes of zip lock bags and two bongs were found in the apartment, the complaint said.
