Man Jailed After Police Say He Led Them On High-Speed Chase

Elkview , Kanawha County , West Virginia

An Elkview man was taken to jail after police said he led them on a high speed chase through South Charleston early Sunday morning.

An officer was on routine patrol on Interstate 64 when he said he spotted an SUV driven Gregory Crihfield going 90 miles an hour.

When he tried to pull the SUV over, the officer said Crihfield started driving even faster.
Police said Crihifield then turned off the interstate and ran a red light on MacCorkle Avenue.

When he finally pulled over, the officer removed Crihfield from the vehicle.

During a patdown, the officer said a metal pipe was found on him. Police said Crihfield admitted to having pills and marijuana.

He also failed sobriety tests.

Crihfield was arrested and faces several charges for fleeing, drug possession, traffic violations, driving under the influence and without a license or insurance.
