Three people are facing drug charges in Huntington after police said a couple was using coke while they were supposed to be taking care of an elderly lady.
Eyewitness News spoke with a family member who said she is not she bailing her daughter out of jail.
Helen Booten, will be the first to tell you she is OK, but most of her family and neighbors are seriously concerned after State Police said the people supposed to be taking care of her had drugs.
Peggy Peters is taking care of Nooten now, and said her daughter Holly Smith can stay in jail.
Troopers arrested Smith, along with her husband Michael and Tina Ratiliff, after they were called to the house on East Gate Road after multiple drug and elderly neglect complaints.
Once inside, troopers said all three admitted to being crack and heroin addicts.
As proof, police said they found crack cocaine inside the home.
Booten wasn't harmed, but is 88 years old, incapacitated and needs constant care.
“It makes me feel bad to think my granddaughter would do something like that," she said.
Peters said her daughter Holly Booten was the only person supposed to be staying in the home.
She already has custody of Booten's little boy, because his mom had been in rehab.
She thought her daughter was clean and could handle staying with her grandmother.
But, sadly, her daughter's drug problem has only gotten worse.
"It’s awful,” Peters said. “Its awful! It’s just the process of what it does to their family!"
As Peters cleans up her mother's house and raises her grandson, while caring for her mother, she said one thing is certain.
"No, sir,” she said. “She will not be bailed out - at least not by me!"
Holly and Michael Smith were both charged with drug possession and neglect of an incapacitated adult.
Tina Ratiliff was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
All were taken to in the Western Regional Jail.
