Hernshaw , Kanawha County , West Virginia

A second man has been arrested in connection with a shooting and home invasion style robbery in Hernshaw on Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint, Roy Roe Jr. told police he heard a knock on the door of his Lens Creek home around 10:30 p.m.. He said he opened his door and saw three men later identified as 26-year-old Zachariah Woodson, 35-year-old Demetran Gray and Kevin Walton. He said Gray and Walton were wearing masks, but Woodson's face was not covered. Roe told police the men forced their way into his home, physically restrained him and demanded to know where his money was. Roe said the man whose face was not covered shot him in the head. According to police, the suspects got away with $600 from his safe.

Roe later identified Woodson from and line-up and he was arrested and charged with attempted murder and robbery. According to court documents, Woodson told police that the three men went to Roe's house and when he opened the door, Gray charged in and hit Roe in the back of the head with a pistol. He says that's when the pistol when off and a bullet struck Roe in the head. He says Roe fell on the ground and Gray picked him up, hit him and then restrained him in a chair. Woodson told police that's when he and Walton went into the house.

Gray is charged with armed robbery. He and Woodson are currently in the South Central Regional Jail. So far, Kevin Walton has not been arrested.

State Police have a suspect in custody in connection with a Kanawha County home invasion and shooting.

Zachariah Woodson, 26, of Boomer in Fayette County is charged with attempted murder and robbery.

Crime scene tape still litters the lawn of Roy Roe Junior's Hernshaw home.

"It surprised me," neighbor Martin Holestein said.

Neighbors are on edge as Roe recovers in the hospital after being shot in the back of the head, but relieved to hear one of his alleged attackers is off the streets.

State Police arrested Woodson at a home in Fayette County late Thursday night, but they said he's not the only one allegedly involved in the crime.

The relationship between the victim and the suspects in the case is not known but state police said on Wednesday they believe this may have stemmed from a previous altercation.

State Police said Roe heard a knock at his back door around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. That's when he says three men, two of whom were wearing masks, forced their way in and physically restrained him. They also demanded to know where his money was, according to the complaint.

They got away with $600 from Roe's safe, but not before the man not wearing a mask shot him in the head, according to the criminal complaint.

Troopers said Roe picked Woodson's picture out of a photo lineup as the man who shot him.

"Just as much stuff goes on anymore, you hear it every day. Shootings and this and that going on...you hear it everyday," Holestein said.

State Police said they are working to obtain warrants for the other two suspects.
