Have you tried enrolling for insurance through the new marketplace and given up from confusion, frustration, or lack of help?
You're not alone! That's why Valley Health has 22 specially trained enrollment assistants, and help is pretty easy to find.
"We do have people calling in all day long, and to be able to coordinate these sites has just been phenomenal," Brent Tomblin, Valley Health assister coordinator, said.
They can help enroll online, by paper application, or by phone.
"We just want to be able to reach out to those people, and say we're here to help you. We know this is a scary time, but we will do everything we can to get you enrolled and help with that," Jessica Staples, Valley Health East Huntington coordinator, said.
Assisters said they've help more than 60 people already at their east Huntington location.
"We try to make them feel at home and comfortable," Staples said.
They said many times people come in frazzled and confused about how to enroll.
If you want assistance you need your name, social security number and one extra tool.
"Just to be patient," Staples said. "If we don't know the answers, we will get the answers for you. We are working through this just like our patients and the community, and we'll do everything we can to help them."
For 2014, the open enrollment period runs from October 1, 2013–March 31, 2014. Assisters will be available throughout this period.
They are available by phone at 855-984-6797, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by stopping in or making an appointment at Valley Health’s business office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 2585 Third Avenue in Huntington. Valley Health Assisters are also available on a walk-in basis or by appointment.
