Two men pleaded guilty in connection with a Charleston fatal shooting and were sentenced to prison.
Jarod Washington and Daniel Little pleaded guilty in Kanawha Circuit Court on Monday to second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. They were accused of murdering Roy Chambliss, also known as “P,” inside his Picadilly Street home on Sept. 10, 2012.
Little was sentenced to 40 years in prison, and Washington was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Chambliss’ girlfriend, Natalie Sprouse, was shot in the arm during the incident. She told officers that an argument broke out after Chambliss refused to buy guns from Washington and Little, because he was apparently trying to stay out of trouble.
Sprouse said Washington went to the bathroom, then came out with a semi-automatic gun demanding all of their money. The pair allegedly ordered her, Chambliss and their roommate, John Endicott, into a bedroom and made them open a safe, but then a fight ensued. Chambliss was shot dead, and Sprouse took a gunshot to the arm.
Little was arrested later that night, but Washington allegedly hid out at this home on Charleston's East End for days. Police surrounded the house the following Friday, acting on a tip he was inside, but Washington was arrested on his way to Beckley.
